Broadband is BT's name for ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line). It works by splitting your existing telephone line into two, one for voice and the other for data. The date line works approximately 9 times faster than a modem. It is the responsibility of the network operator (BT) to deliver your data from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) of choice. Thus, if and when you have Broadband, you can shop around the ISPs for the best Broadband deal at a fixed monthly price. Advantages of Broadband
There are disadvantages including possible teething troubles for new or inexperienced customers, but the chief disadvantage is that: . . . . . . . It is not available in Clun 200 registrations will trigger BT to upgrade the Clun exchange. Following Broadband information in the January "Clun Courier", a further two residents registered. Well done -the estimated Trigger Date has reduced from July 2004 to June 2004. See what even two can do! It takes a couple of minutes to say you want Broadband and no commitment, no payment. If you do not have a telephone account with Bt you will need to go to your ISP and register with them. They will then forward it to the network provider - BT. |
